Selling your whisky with us

Selling your whisky with us

Published by Mollie Hyde on Jul 11, 2019

If you’re reading this, we assume you're thinking about selling some whisky, whether you’re looking to reap the reward of your investment, profit from an unwanted gift, or simply make some money. You’re in the right place!

Here at the Really Good Whisky Company our policy is to get the best deal for both the seller and the buyer, so selling with us really is a win-win!

What can we say? We're people pleasers!

You're probably wondering how it all works and where do you start. So, let’s get down to the nitty gritty, we've broken the selling process into five simple steps (see expertly laid-out bullet points below).

  1. Step 1: Fill in the simple form
  2. Step 2: We’ll ask for a few more details (e.g. proof of purchase, origin, etc.) before giving our valuation, this is only a suggestion, if you would like to go against the experts on this one and dictate your own price, that is completely within your right!
  3. Step 3: Deliver the bottle to the Really Good Whisky headquarters, we’ll take it from here! Following whisky authentication you will find your bottle(s) listed and live on this very website!
  4. Step 4: Now this is the easy part! Sit back, relax, maybe enjoy a tea, and by tea we mean whisky. We’ll be in touch as soon as your bottle is sold.
  5. Step 5: Within 48 hours of your bottle being sold and dispatched we will transfer the funds to your bank account!

It’s as simple as 1, 2, 3, 4, 5! - ok, we'll admit that doesn't quite roll off the tongue.

Now we’re sure you still have questions; we’ll use the full force of our psychic abilities in guessing just what they might be and answering them!

“How do I get my whisky to you?”

We’re more than happy to organise a collection for your bottle(s) at a small fee, alternatively you can drop them off yourself or arrange your own courier.

“What if I want my whisky back?”

If at any point you have a change of heart, simply be in contact and we will withdraw your bottle(s) from the website.

“Do I have to pay anything?”

In a nutshell; no sell, no fee. As soon as the whisky is sold a 10% commission (+ VAT) will be deducted.

"Why is my whisky selling at a lower price than yours?"

If the whisky you're looking to sell is already available to buy directly from ourselves, you may be wondering why we've priced yours lower than our own. Put simply, whisky from a private collector loses value due to its pre-loved nature.

"Why would I sell with you and not go to auction? Facebook? Ebay?"

Our previous customers preferred to sell through us for three main reasons.

a.) You get paid fast! - As soon as the money has reached our account and the whisky is dispatched we will transfer your funds. This is all usually done within 48 hours!

b.) You are in complete control - You have a guaranteed price, a 'buy it now' if you will, you don't have to suffer the agonising uncertainty that is the bidding process.

c.) You're not breaking any laws - Selling through Facebook/Ebay/(various other marketplaces) leaves you open to the risk of fraud, and as you are selling illegally, you're not protected. As sad as it may be, we know just how vulnerable the whisky industry can be (we're talking to you shall remain nameless scammer from Singapore!!).

Still in need of a little convincing? You may call us lazy, but we thought we'd let a previous seller persuade you..

I sold my Highland Park 21yo via ReallyGoodWhisky and am very satisfied with the price I got for it and how quick it sold. Very satisfied with the service! Excellent job
