Blair Athol 8 Year Old WhiskyRegular price $198.00
This is a unique and hard to find 1970's bottling of Blair Athol 8 year old single malt whisky. This is a fairly old Blair Athol bottling, and bears striking similarities in terms of tasting notes to the current 12 Year old. Today, Blair Athol is the spiritual home of Bell's whisky with only 5% of the whisky produced at the distillery retained as single malt. The rest is incorporated into the UKs most popular blended whisky. Blair Athol Distillery is located at the gateway to the Scottish Highlands in the picturesque town of Pitlochry in Perthshire. It is one of the oldest working distilleries in Scotland. Founded in 1798 by John Steward and Robert Robertson, it was originally named 'Aldour', after the Allt Dour burn the distillery draws it water from. No box. Damage to label (see pictures). Nose: Sweet and slightly smoky with notes of ginger. Palate: Waxy, medium bodied. Soft, sweet and fruity. Plenty of fresh green fruit. Finish: Average length, smooth with a touch of orange and pear. A dash of smoke accompanies.
