about the distillery

Glenturret Distillery

The distillery was first established in 1775, making it one of the oldest legal distilleries in Scotland. While it has had various owners and has gone through periods of closure and reopening, Glenturret has a long-standing tradition of whisky production. Glenturret Distillery is a well-known Scottish whisky distillery located in the heart of the Highland region, specifically near the town of Crieff, Perthshire. The distillery was taken over by a new owner, the French company Lalique Group, in 2019. Since then, Glenturret has been undergoing significant revitalization, with new investment in both production methods and visitor experiences, including tours, tastings, and events.
The distillery has been recognized for its commitment to craftsmanship, with a focus on traditional methods such as handcrafting copper pot stills and maturing whisky in wooden casks. Glenturret also prides itself on its use of local ingredients and maintaining a close connection to its surroundings. Glenturret produces single-malt Scotch whiskies, known for its rich, complex flavors. The whiskies tend to have a distinctive fruity, floral profile with some smoky or peaty notes depending on the expression. The distillery’s core range includes a variety of aged whiskies, from 10-year-old offerings to much older releases.
