Named after King George V, this limited release whisky in the Johnnie Walker Blue Label line up is crafted from some of the rarest whiskies, including Port Ellen, a highly prized malt whose distillery no longer exists. The elegant design of the exclusive edition marks the 80th anniversary of the awarding of the Royal Warrant to John Walker & Sons and the limited edition pack has been crafted as a visual celebration of the arts and craft movement that blossomed during the 1930's. The luxurious burgundy box features an intricate motif and an elegant gold chandelier print, in keeping with the art deco style of the time.The John Walker & Sons King George V blend itself was crafted exclusively using whiskies from distilleries in existence at the time of King George V, including precious casks of Port Ellen Single Malt from the Isle of Islay. This was the period in the 1930's when John Walker & Sons was first granted the Royal Warrant as a supplier to the Royal Household. The Royal Warrant is regarded as a mark of quality and excellence and is an honour John Walker & Sons continues to hold.88 Points Jim Murray Whisky Bible 2017 - "This has genuine style and breeding."   Nose: A mix of heady toffee apple and very faint smoke. Thick, syrupy malt, digestive biscuits, oak. Palate: Soft, buttery toffee and general fruitiness. Medium bodied, but very malty and well-constructed blend. Smooth and rich. Finish: A mouth warming and lingering rich peaty finish. Golden syrup, creamy spices and malt.
