Port Charlotte OLC:01 2010 - 70cl 55.1%  Whisky Region: Islay  The OLC:01 is part of a collection of whiskies from Port Charlotte with a focus on outstanding and unusual cask maturation, for this expression an array of Ex-Bourbon, Ex-Syrah and Ex-VDN (Vin Doux Naturel) casks were used before a finishing period in Oloroso Sherry Hogsheads from the Spanish Bodega Fernando De Castilla. Nose: Earthy peat smoke and rich dark fruits combine with nutty and honeyed aromas.  Palate: The rich dark fruit and chocolate notes typical from high quality Oloroso cask maturation balance perfectly with the peat smoke Port Charlotte is reknowned for. However, the combination of casks used to mature this whisky bring undertones of citrus fruits and nuts.
