Fettercairn distillery is a whisky distillery in Fettercairn. Situated under the Grampian foothills in the Howe of Mearns, Fettercairn town’s name is loosely based on the phrase "the foot of the mountain". The distillery is operated by Whyte & Mackay, which Philippines-based Alliance Global owns. Fettercairn operates a traditional setup with four pear-shaped pot stills, each with a capacity of 12,800 litres. A unique feature is its copper cooling ring, which continuously drenches the stills in mountain water, enhancing reflux and yielding a purer, lighter spirit. This process contributes to the distillery's signature smooth character. The distillery boasts 14 dunnage warehouses capable of storing up to 32,000 casks. Maturation occurs in a mix of American oak, European oak, sherry, and port casks.
