Tasting Journey

Distillery Glendronach

About This Whisky

Matured for an astounding 41 years, this 1971 vintage single cask from Highland distillers Glendronach is a finely aged wonder. It spent the majority of its life lain in cask #1247, a Pedro Ximinez Sherry Puncheon.    Bottle 46 of only 529, this is a rather exclusive dram to say the least.  Nose: A crescendo of Demerara sugar and Pedro Ximenez sherry notes, and then drifting into the picture dark chocolate and figs. Palate: Luxuriant chocolate-coated raisins, and a wave of spices followed by an explosion of sweet molasses, Demerara and mocha. Finish: Lingering sweetness with a lovely kick of intence spices.
