Description
Matured initially in American oak casks, then transferred into ex-port pipes, the Glenmorangie Port Wood Finish mustn't be missed. Deep copper in colour, this well-matured whisky is known for a welcome balance of both dry and sweet flavours. This is an earlier bottling than the distillery's current port wood finished expression, Quinta Ruban and it's very different! Nose: Lots of dark fruit - cherries, plums, dates. A slight earthiness from the port and a pleasant malty sweetness. Palate: Smooth and sweet. The brighter notes normally found in Glenmorangie are definitely subdued, but definitely in the background. Finish: Plenty more soft, dried fruit sweetness. Slow and very smooth - quite different from the distillery's current port wood expression.
