'Twas the night before Xmas... and in the advent calendar was an Ancnoc 18 matured in Spanish oak ex-sherry casks and American oak ex-bourbon barrels. It has been bottled in its most natural form, neither chill-filtered nor coloured. A perfect Christmas Eve dram...

Glaswegian 29 For Christmas Eve we bring you this cask strength dram distilled for 29 years by a distillery in Glasgow that has since closed! Vanilla-ey, oak-ey, brown sugary- wow!
Day 23
The Really Good One
Rock Island 21 Year Old is a limited edition (only 4200 bottles produced!) blended malt from Douglas Laing, marrying together Island single malts from Islay, Arran, Jura and Orkney. Salty sea and peat as well as some citrus in there! Great dram!

Benromach 2. Distilled in first and second fill sherry casks- this WONDERFUL dram is smooth, spicy, sweet and simply scrumptious! Truly worthy of being a Christmas Eve Eve dram!
Day 22

Benriach 12. Matured in sherry casks and then finished in Pedro Ximénez and Oloroso sherry casks. 3 words to describe this? SHERRY SHERRY SHERRY! (no complaints over here!)

North British Octave. This dram spent the last 9 months of its maturation in an Octave sherry butt- meaning it could impart more flavours than a regular cask! Excited to see the flavours in this one!
Day 21
The Really Good One
Arran Amarone When Italy met Scotland! Day 21 brings an interesting dram- The wine casks used in this bottling were sourced from an artisan producer of Amarone wine in the Veneto region of Italy.
The Premium One
Deanston 17 YO PX 2002 A limited edition dram with a limitless amount of flavour! Matured in PX casks for 17 years, this single malt is a burst of raisin, sticky sweetness! What is not to love???

The 'Really Good' Whisky Advent Calendar: Day 20 - Kilchoman Sanaig
It's the big 20 today!! Brace yourself for peat and sweet (that rhymed!!) This whisky has been matured in Oloroso sherry and bourbon casks.
The Premium One
A mix of 17% Laphroaig, 20% Highland Park and 63% of undisclosed Speyside whiskies married in two bourbon casks, this dram promises earthy, smokey and citrusy.

This multi a ward winning dram has notes of lemon and coconut amongst the classic Laphroaig peat! As the name suggests, it is matured in quarter sized casks which impart more flavour due to the higher surface area barrel/ liquid ratio!

From Douglas Laings Old Particular bottling range - this beauty was distilled in Speyside in a refill hogshead. Not much is know about the origins of this whisky, but one things for sure - its a gooden'
Day 17
The Really Good One
This dram has a pretty pink hue to it because of its 6 months being finished in Tawny Port casks. Its sweet, fruity flavours match its vibrant colour!!

A trio of casks are what make this whisky so flavourful and complex! Oloroso sherry, virgin oak, and red wine casks each impart their own flavours and textures to create a gorgeous dram!

Blended in honour of the famous poet; Robert Burns, this dram is full of orchard fruit flavours with a spice finish!
The Premium One
An unchill-filtered dram full of coastal vibes. Salty and bonfire-y nose and a lemony finish. This has been aged for 9 years in a single refill hogshead before being bottled by Douglas Laing for the Old Particular Series in November 2019.
Day 15
The Really Good One
This Benromach was matured in first-fill bourbon and sherry casks and then bottled at cask strength with a hefty 57.2% ABV!! Expect some raisiny sherry flavours and some tingly spice at the back of your throat - YUMMY!

A single malt matured in bourbon barrels, sherry casks, virgin oak casks, and Bordeaux red wine casks!! Such a fascinating combination is sure to provide a complex and interesting dram!
Day 14
The Really Good One
A 10 year old from Glengoyne who are famous for distilling slower than anybody else. This dram is matured in European and America-oak sherry casks leaving it with a sweet, buttery popcorn flavour

This Waxhouse Linkwood 10 year old batch 003 was distilled in first fill red wine barriques giving it all the sweetness and spice. Yes please!

Port Dundas 16 2004 Old Particular
A 16 year old Single Grain scotch from Port Dundas, this was distilled in June 2004 and bottled in December 2020. It comes from cask Number 14564 which had an outturn of 343 bottles. The whisky was finished in a Pedro Ximenez Sherry Butt which adds further complexity and sherry spice notes to the whisky.

The Tomatin Cask Strength Single malt, bottled at a whopping 57.5% at the remote Highland distillery.

Day 12 brings us a limited edition Tomatin single malt from the distillery's French Collection that has been finished in Sauternes wine casks and distilled in 2008. We expect sweet things from this.........

We're pretty much a third of the way through advent and today we have a sherry bomb for you - Glenrothes 12! Aged in sherry casks only this sweet and spicy number is sure to be a Christmassy treat

The 'Really Good' Whisky Advent Calendar: Day 7 - The Antiquary 12 Year Old
Blended at the Tomatin distillery. A blend of malt and grain whiskies that have all matured for at least 12 years, this dram is full of light and sweet notes.

Matured in virgin oak casks, The GlenAllachie 13-year-old Virgin Oak Barrel is part of the fourth batch of the UK-exclusive Single Cask series.
A limited edition version of Douglas Laings Timorous Beastie Highlands blended malt range! Filled with vanilla, honey and spice!!
DAY 5

This Islay - 'As We Get It' dram is bottled at cask strength from its original cask without chill filtration or colouring. It is super light on the palate with a killer smoky finish!

This Benriach 2005 13 year old PX is nothing short of an absolute treat! A complex dram filled with Christmassy flavours like ginger, cinnamon, mince pies and raisins.
DAY 4
The Really Good One
Turning our attention to the USA - this is Old Forester Statesman from Kentucky. (If Alex can adjust his glasses right!) Created alongside ‘Kingsman: The Golden Circle’ and winner of ‘The Master Award’ at the Spirits Business American Whiskey Masters 2017, this bourbon contains wafts of chocolate, citrus and spices.

This 18 year old Balblair is the third whisky in the Balblair collection. The liquid has been matured in ex- bourbon casks and then finished off in Spanish oak butts. This is warming and spicy, with a finish that almost lasts a lifetime.
DAY 3
The Really Good One
Yum! Day 3 brings us the Classic Laddie from the Islay distillery of Bruichladdich. Malty, sweet dram with a complex palate.

The Octomore Edition 10.1 - just a five year old malt, but a good'n! Matured in a first fill ex American oak cask. 107ppm - which mean it's pretty smoky (!) Sweet undertones with vanilla and cinnamon.
DAY 2

It's day 2 and we've got a treat for you! (hey that rhymed!!)
Hidden behind todays door is a lovely Machrie Moor dram!! Originally limited edition, this dram was so popular that Arran decided to make it a permanent release! Expect some lovely peat from this bottle....

It's the 2nd day of advent and today we are going to be trying yet another fabulous dram -
Old Pulteney 18 Year Old! Matured in bourbon and Spanish Oak casks, this whisky is sure to have wafts of vanilla and spice and all things nice!
DAY 1
The Really Good One
We're off to a strong start! The Speyburn 15 Year Old Single Malt. This was released in 2017. Its 15 years of maturation consist of American and Spanish oak casks which are what makes the dram known for its honey and fruity flavour!
The Premium One
The anCnoc 24 year old is matured in American oak ex-sherry casks and then in first fill Spanish oak, ex-sherry butts. Expect sweet and spicy - a perfectly Christmassy dram to kick off December!
