About Auchroisk Distillery

Auchroisk Distillery

The Auchroisk distillery was built in 1974, making it one of the more modern distilleries in the region. It is part of Diageo's portfolio, one of the largest multinational alcoholic beverage companies in the world. Diageo also owns many other well-known distilleries, such as Glenkinchie, Cardhu, and Talisker. Like many other distilleries, Auchroisk was built primarily to supply malt whisky for blends. As a result, most of the whisky produced there is used in Diageo’s blended whiskies, particularly in the famous Johnnie Walker line, where Auchroisk is one of the key components. While the distillery is known for its contribution to blends, there have been a handful of single malt releases over the years, usually from independent bottlers, such as those in the Symington's Choice series. These releases showcase the distillery’s potential for producing complex, well-rounded single malts.
