Balvenie Distillery

The Balvenie Distillery is one of the most renowned and respected whisky producers in Speyside, Scotland. Known for its traditional methods of whisky production, Balvenie stands out for maintaining control over every part of the process, from malting its own barley to maturing its whisky in-house. This commitment to craftsmanship has made Balvenie one of the few distilleries in Scotland with such hands-on involvement in every stage of production.
The Balvenie Distillery is located in Dufftown, the heart of Speyside in northeast Scotland, an area famous for its whisky production due to the pure water sources and ideal climate for maturing whisky.
Balvenie is owned by William Grant & Sons, a family-owned company that also owns other prominent distilleries like Glenfiddich and Grant's blended whisky.
Balvenie was founded in 1892 by William Grant, who had previously worked at Glenfiddich. Balvenie’s name is derived from the nearby Balvenie Castle, a local landmark.
The distillery has worked to ensure that its practices maintain the balance between high-quality whisky production and environmental responsibility.
