Description
A marriage of 9 American Oak casks and 3 European Oak Sherry casks created the second limited edition Balvenie Tun 1858, for the Taiwanese market. Batch 2 of a limited release of only 2,600 bottles produced, this has rarely been seen in auction or the re-market. Nose: Balvenie Honey™. Morello cherries. Dried fruits and flowers. Vanilla. Madiera cake. Old musty oak. Milk chocolate. Some varnish and polished leather. Palate: Light-medium bodied. Tart and spicy on the palate. A bit watery. Orange peel. Chocolate covered liquorice. Dried fruits, but not the super sweet kind – apricot and salty sour prunes. Finish: A woody, lightly spiced, and shortish finish, dominated by dried citrus and the savoury note from the nose with bonus solvent.
