About Braeval Distillery

Originally established in 1973 as Braes of Glenlivet Distillery, Braeval Distillery sits at one of the highest elevations of any working distillery in Scotland, deep within the Speyside region near the Cairngorm Mountains.

The distillery is renowned for producing an elegant and fruity spirit with delicate floral aromas, honeyed sweetness and soft orchard fruit notes. While much of Braeval's production is destined for premium blended Scotch whiskies, independently bottled single malt releases remain exceptionally rare, making them highly sought after by collectors and whisky enthusiasts.

The cool mountain climate and exceptionally pure water contribute to the distillery's distinctive house style, producing whiskies that mature beautifully over extended periods.

About Signatory Vintage

Founded in 1988, Signatory Vintage Scotch Whisky Company has become one of Scotland's most respected independent bottlers.

Known for selecting exceptional individual casks from some of Scotland's finest distilleries, Signatory bottles its whiskies with minimal intervention, often at natural cask strength, without chill filtration and with natural colour wherever possible. This philosophy allows each whisky to express its true distillery character and the influence of its individual cask.

Signatory's Cask Strength Collection is especially admired by whisky enthusiasts for delivering authentic, full-flavoured single malts that faithfully represent the spirit as it left the cask.

Maturation & Character

After 23 years of maturation in oak, this Braeval has developed remarkable depth and refinement while retaining the bright, elegant character that defines the distillery.

Extended ageing has introduced layers of creamy vanilla, honeycomb, baked orchard fruits, toasted almonds and gentle oak spice, beautifully complementing Braeval's naturally floral spirit. Bottled at 60.4% ABV, the whisky retains exceptional concentration and complexity, rewarding both neat tasting and careful dilution with a few drops of water.

This is a whisky that demonstrates the remarkable rewards of long-term maturation combined with expert cask selection.

  • Matured for 23 years in oak casks
  • Rare independent Braeval single malt
  • Bottled by the highly respected Signatory Vintage
  • Natural cask strength at 60.4% ABV
  • Non-chill filtered and natural colour
  • Limited edition Speyside release
  • Excellent whisky for collectors and enthusiasts
  • Rich, elegant and beautifully balanced flavour profile

Collectability & Investment

Official single malt releases from Braeval Distillery remain exceptionally scarce, making independently bottled expressions particularly desirable.

Signatory Vintage has earned an international reputation for releasing some of the finest single-cask and small-batch Scotch whiskies available, and older Braeval bottlings are increasingly difficult to source. This 23-year-old cask strength release combines long maturation, limited availability and exceptional provenance, making it a highly attractive bottle for collectors and investors alike.

As mature stocks from lesser-seen Speyside distilleries continue to decline, premium bottlings such as this are becoming increasingly sought after in both the collector and enthusiast markets.

About Braeval Distillery

The Braeval distillery was founded in 1973 by a consortium of investors, under the name Braes of Glenlivet, though it has always been known simply as Braeval. The distillery was built at a time when the Scotch whisky industry was expanding, and it was designed to be a high-capacity operation with modern equipment to meet the rising demand for blended whisky.
Situated near the village of Ballindalloch, in the heart of Speyside, Braeval sits on the banks of the River Spey—a region known for its pristine water sources and ideal climate for whisky maturation. The distillery is surrounded by picturesque hills and heather, typical of Speyside’s rolling landscape.
The distillery has had several owners throughout its history.
It was initially owned by The Braes of Glenlivet Distillery Company but was later acquired by Chivas Brothers (part of the Pernod Ricard group).
In the early 2000s, the distillery underwent a rebranding and was re-commissioned under the name Braeval. Despite this, it has remained a relatively quiet producer, focusing primarily on supplying malt whisky for blends.
