Terms and Conditions for Competitions
WHISKY COMPETITION TERMS AND CONDITIONS
1. COMPETITION ORGANIZER
The competition organizer is The Really Good Whisky Company, operating as The Really Good Whisky Company ("we," "us," "our"), with registered offices located at 802-804 Finchley Road, Temple Fortune NW11 6XL, London, United Kingdom.
2. APPLICABLE TERMS AND DATA PROTECTION
By participating in any competition, entrants acknowledge and accept these terms along with our Privacy Policy governing personal data handling. These conditions govern all ticketed competitions hosted on our platform where participants purchase entries, respond to qualifying questions, and enter prize drawings upon correct answers (referred to as "prize competitions").
Our general Terms of Service remain applicable to prize competitions, particularly regarding product descriptions, quality standards, shipping procedures, payment methods, circumstances beyond our control, and our obligations should issues arise.
3. PARTICIPANT REQUIREMENTS
Participation is restricted to individuals aged 18 years or above.
Prize eligibility requires a delivery address within our approved shipping territories. Please consult our shipping information page for current territories. Submissions from ineligible locations will be void.
Employees, sub-contractors, consultants, and their immediate relatives of The Really Good Whisky Company or any affiliated organizations are strictly prohibited from participation.
We maintain the authority to authenticate entries and participants (including verification of identity, age, and residence) and may, at our discretion, exclude any person or submission we determine has violated these terms, manipulated the entry mechanism, or engaged in conduct undermining competition integrity.
4. COMPETITION TIMELINE
All prize competitions feature specified opening and closing dates/times, plus a fixed quantity of available entry tickets. Active competitions display remaining ticket availability and deadline information on their respective pages.
Should all tickets sell before the scheduled closing time, we may conclude the entry period ahead of schedule.
5. ENTRY METHODS
Two participation options exist: ticket purchase or postal entry (complimentary method).
TICKET PURCHASE METHOD: During the active competition period, qualified participants must navigate to the competition page and: (a) complete purchase of one or more entry ticket(s), and (b) correctly answer a skill-based or knowledge question (single answer required for bundle purchases). Upon completion, participants receive valid entry/entries corresponding to tickets purchased.
All competition tickets are final sale and non-refundable, regardless of question response accuracy, except under circumstances described in Section 9.
Ticket pricing varies by competition and appears on individual competition pages. Bundle options may be available.
While multiple entries are allowed, we retain authority to void automated or programmatic submissions disrupting competition or website functionality.
POSTAL ENTRY METHOD: For complimentary postal entry, qualified participants must: (a) mail a postcard with valid postage to: FAO: Competition Team - The Really Good Whisky Company, 802-804 Finchley Road, Temple Fortune NW11 6XL, London, United Kingdom, (b) legibly write: target competition name, correct skill question answer, full name, email, phone number, and (c) ensure delivery before competition closure. Meeting all criteria provides one valid competition entry.
Postal participants bear postage costs. Postcards are not returned. Each postcard permits entry to one competition only. Maximum one postal entry per person per competition.
International shipping fees and customs charges may apply for non-UK addresses (see Section 8).
For both methods, correct answers are revealed during or immediately following the prize drawing. Incorrect responses void entry eligibility without individual notification. Our answer determination is conclusive with no appeals process.
Entry tickets cannot be transferred.
6. WINNER SELECTION
Each competition produces one winner selected randomly from qualified entries following the closing deadline. Unless specified otherwise, winner selection occurs via live-streamed drawing on designated social media platforms with immediate announcement.
Winner selection is absolute with no appeals permitted.
We may request winner testimonials regarding the competition/prize and reserve usage rights for results announcements and promotional activities. We retain publication rights for winner's first name, surname initial, and county/region location in results communications.
7. PRIZE DETAILS
Each competition awards alcoholic beverage(s) as prizes - individual bottles, multiple bottle sets, or specialty gift packages. Specific prize descriptions appear on competition pages.
Prizes are non-negotiable, non-transferable, and cannot be converted to cash or alternative items. We reserve substitution rights for prizes of comparable or superior value when original prizes become unavailable due to external factors.
IMPORTANT ADDITION: Winners explicitly agree to submit a photograph featuring themselves with the prize bottle(s) within 14 days of receipt. This photograph may be used for promotional purposes. Failure to provide the requested photograph may result in the winner being invoiced for the full retail value of the prize.
8. DELIVERY TERMS
Prize value includes standard packaging and UK mainland delivery (excluding Scottish Highlands and Islands).
For international destinations (including Scottish Highlands and Islands):
- Winners assume full responsibility for all shipping costs, which will be invoiced separately
- IMPORTANT ADDITION: Winners explicitly agree to pay all applicable import duties, excise taxes, customs tariffs, and administrative fees imposed by foreign authorities or shipping agents. We cannot control or estimate these charges. Winners bear sole responsibility for all such fees.
- Delivery may be subject to local regulations and restrictions
9. COMPETITION CANCELLATION AND TECHNICAL ISSUES
We unconditionally reserve the right to cancel any competition at any point and for any reason, with full refunds issued to all ticket purchasers.
We reserve cancellation rights when fairness, safety, prize unavailability, technical failures, or other reasonable circumstances warrant termination.
TECHNICAL ISSUES: In the event of website malfunction, server failure, payment processing errors, or any other technical difficulties affecting competition integrity, we may suspend, modify, or cancel the competition. We bear no liability for entries lost or corrupted due to technical problems, network failures, or system incompatibilities. Participants experiencing technical issues should contact our support team immediately, though we cannot guarantee resolution or compensation for missed entry opportunities.
Upon cancellation, no drawing occurs and all tickets (including those with incorrect answers) receive full refunds processed promptly. All participants receive cancellation notifications with explanations when appropriate.
10. PRIZE COLLECTION PROCESS
We attempt winner contact promptly following selection using provided details.
Winners not contacted within one week should initiate contact to claim prizes.
If winner contact fails and no winner-initiated contact occurs within 30 days post-drawing, we may select an alternate winner randomly from remaining qualified entries.
We bear no responsibility for unclaimed prizes exceeding time limits.
11. LIABILITY LIMITATIONS
We accept no liability for entries experiencing delays or loss regardless of cause (including technical failures, payment issues, or connectivity problems).
We disclaim responsibility for postal entries lost or delayed in transit. Postal delivery confirmation does not constitute entry receipt. Our receipt time determination is final without appeal.
We assume no liability for prizes delivered to incorrect addresses.
To the fullest legal extent, we, our representatives, staff, and agents bear no liability for compensation regarding participation-related loss, damage, injury, or death arising from contract, tort (including negligence), statutory breach, or otherwise, whether direct, indirect, or consequential, except when caused by our negligence or that of our authorized representatives. Statutory rights remain unaffected.
12. GOVERNING LAW
These terms operate under English law. Competition entries and related disputes fall under English law jurisdiction. Both parties acknowledge English and Welsh courts' non-exclusive jurisdiction, though Northern Ireland residents may pursue proceedings locally, as may Scottish residents in Scotland.
