This 21 year old release from Speyside distillery BenRiach has been matured in four cask variations; ex-Bourbon, virgin oak, Pedro Ximenez and red wine. Each cask contributes to the unique taste of this single malt; bourbon vanilla, virgin oak spice, Pedro Ximenez sweetness and vinous red fruits. Nose: Ripe summer fruits, strawberries and bananas. A sweetness likened to candied peel, followed by a spicy and warming stem ginger. Palate: Sweet vanilla and spicy cinnamon, balanced with tangy red fruits and citrus peel. Finish: Long, sweet and satisfying. Barley sugars and honeyed malt.
