The Blair Athol 11 Year Old was produced at the Blair Athol Distillery, located in the Highland region of Scotland (Pitlochry; owned by Diageo. From Bottler Brave New Spirits, part of their Cask Noir series. “Ivy by the Embers” or “Ivy in Tennessee” — this appears to be the same release under slightly different naming conventions. Aged 11 years, Distilled in April 2011 and Bottled at 57.6% ABV in March 2023. Matured in first-fill Bourbon hogsheads that previously held Islay peated whisky. This imparts a subtle peaty smokiness onto Blair Athol—a whisky normally unpeated. Limited edition—only 254 to 284 bottles released.

Blair Athol Distillery

Established in 1798, Blair Athol distillery stands at the gateway to the Scottish Highlands in the picturesque town of Pitlochry, Perthshire. To the south, set in open moorland in the foothills of the Grampian mountains, is Blair Athol’s ancient source of water – the Allt Dour.

Closed in 1932, Blair Athol was saved during the depression by Arthur Bell and Sons. In 1949 it was extensively rebuilt, reopened, and has been in production ever since. Tours of the distillery provide a wealth of knowledge and expertise, all of which bring you face-to-face with Blair Athol’s exquisite surroundings and fascinating past.
