Light Gold

Nose

Aromas of lean and fruity malt whisky. Further lemony aspects and some starchy notes of porridge infused with runny honey.

Palate

Taste of white stone fruits, lemon rind, raw barley, mint jelly, crushed ivy and white pepper. Goes on with notes of white jelly beans, pineapple cubes and various blossoms and nectars.

Finish

A good length of various seeds, some bitter lemon, quinine, baking soda, sunflower oil and the slightest earthiness.

About This Whisky

Daftmill is a farm distillery, owned and operated by the Cuthbert family. It only runs in the farm's quiet periods; mid-summer and winter, sometimes producing as few as 100 casks per year. This bottle is the 296th of the 629 bottles released. This inaugural release is a vatting of three first-fill bourbon casks, all matured in the early days of distilling at Daftmill. The result is a fruity dram, with orchard and tropical fruit balanced out by soft oaky spice. 

About Daftmill

Daftmill Distillery

In 2003 brothers Francis and Ian Cuthbert applied for planning permission to convert the old mill into a distillery.
The license to distil was granted by Her Majesty’s Revenue & Customs on St Andrews Day 2005 and the first whisky was produced on 16th December 2005, making Daftmill the newest distillery to open in Scotland at that time.
