The absolute master of the Speyside distillers, king of the sherry cask. The Macallan 18 year old continues to be one of the most popular whiskies in the world and this is a mighty fine vintage. Nose: Fresh oranges and berries (blueberry and black currant) and cherries. Palate: Fresh berries, jams, orange juice and peel. Some vanilla, not very much maltiness. Marzipan pralines, cocoa powder, coffee grounds, leater and some old wood later with earthy undertones. Interestingly fresh. Finish: medium long, on Seville oranges, herbal notes and subtle dark chocolate.
