about the distillery

Speyside Distillery

The Speyside Distillery is a small, traditional single malt Scotch whisky distillery located near Kingussie, at the southern edge of the Speyside region of Scotland. Despite its name, it's not a generic "Speyside-region" label — it's actually called Speyside Distillery. The site was originally a barley mill dating back to the 1700s. Construction was painstakingly slow — starting in 1962, completed in 1987, operational by 1990. Designed by George Christie, a whisky visionary, and built using traditional methods. One of the youngest and smallest traditional distilleries in Scotland. Produces handcrafted, elegant whiskies under the SPEY brand. Known for subtle, floral, and sweet drams, with some rare peated releases. Increasingly gaining collector interest due to independent bottlings and mature stock.
