About This Whisky

The Balvenie Rose is a very limited bottle and was sold at the distillery exclusively, maturing for 16 years in American Oak and being finished in a first fill port pipe. The Rose was created from the amazing history of Balvenie Castle. It is a story of love, murder and intrigue. Margaret Douglas was married to the notorious Black Douglas who rebelled against King James II. The battle was lost and all titles and estates went with it. However, the King was taken with Margarets beauty and set the annual rent to a single Red Rose (what would someone do today to be able to pay a single rose as rent!).
