Tasting Journey

Distillery The Really Good Whisky Company

About This Whisky

Edinburgh Gin – Strawberry & Pink Pepper (70cl, 40 %)

What it is

  • A flavoured gin from Edinburgh Gin, combining traditional gin botanicals.

  • Bottled at 40 % ABV and in a 70 cl format (common “gin-bottle” size).

Aroma / Nose

  • You’ll get sweet, fresh strawberry notes — juicy and reminiscent of summer berries.

  • Underlying that: a soft spicy-peppery warmth from the pink peppercorns — enough to add complexity, but not heavy spice.

Palate (Taste)

  • The primary note is jammy strawberry sweetness, rich and fruity — almost like a strawberry dessert-type vibe.

  • Balanced by a tingly, subtle peppery kick from the pink peppercorns. That pepperiness doesn’t dominate, but gives a gentle “tingle” that contrasts nicely with the sweetness.

Finish

  • Smooth and relatively clean — the peppercorn leaves a lingering warmth rather than a harsh spice.

Best Ways to Serve It

  • Gin & Tonic: Classic tonic water, plenty of ice, and garnish with fresh strawberry slices (and maybe a sprig of mint or basil) — this way you enhance the fruitiness.

  • Light & Sparkling Mixers: Soda water, or light tonic — you could even experiment with a splash of lemonade or a citrus-tonic mix to brighten it and contrast with the sweetness. (The floral/spicy peppercorn character might pair well with something light and refreshing.)

Who It’s Good For

  • Lovers of fruity, sweet-forward gins but who don’t want something cloying or overly sweet.

  • People who enjoy a twist on classic gin — the peppercorn adds subtle spice and depth rather than turning it into a dessert-like liqueur.

  • As a summer gin — fresh strawberries, ice, tonic: it fits well for warm-weather drinks, garden parties or relaxed evenings.
