About This Whisky

Hibiki Blender’s Choice is a distinguished Japanese blended whisky from Suntory, renowned for its harmonious balance and refined craftsmanship. This expression is bottled at 43% ABV and presented in a 700ml bottle. Introduced in 2018, it was developed to offer a more accessible alternative to the revered Hibiki 17-Year-Old. Hibiki Blender’s Choice is crafted from a blend of malt and grain whiskies sourced from Suntory's Yamazaki, Hakushu, and Chita distilleries. The whisky is aged in a variety of casks, including American white oak, sherry, and Mizunara oak, which impart unique flavors and aromas. The bottle design reflects the 24 facets of the Japanese whisky calendar, symbolizing the 24 seasons of the traditional Japanese lunar calendar.


About Yamazaki, Hakushu, and Chita

Yamazaki, Hakushu, and Chita Distilleries

The malt and grain whiskies from these different distilleries are carefully blended by Suntory’s master blenders. The age of the whisky used in Hibiki 21 ensures a level of sophistication and balance, allowing the flavors to mature and integrate over time.

Yamazaki: The first and oldest Japanese distillery, known for producing single malt whisky with rich, complex flavors, including dried fruit, oak, and spice.

Hakushu: Known for its fresher, lighter style, Hakushu malt whisky typically has herbal, grassy notes, with hints of smoke and fruit.

Chita: Suntory’s grain distillery, which produces a smooth and light grain whisky. It’s often used to balance the flavors and texture in blends.

The grain whisky used in Hibiki 21 comes primarily from Chita Distillery, where it is distilled from corn or wheat, contributing smoothness and lightness to the blend. The grain whisky adds a silky mouthfeel and is an important part of Hibiki's overall smoothness.
