Tobermory 28 Year Old 1994 Chapter 7 Single Malt Scotch Whisky
The Tobermory 28 Year Old 1994 Chapter 7 Single Malt Scotch Whisky is a remarkable independent bottling that showcases nearly three decades of careful maturation at one of Scotland's most distinctive island distilleries. Distilled in 1994 and bottled by the respected independent bottler Chapter 7 Whisky, this exceptional release captures the elegant maritime character, tropical fruit complexity and gentle coastal influence that has made mature Tobermory whisky highly sought after by collectors and enthusiasts alike.
Bottled at a natural 52% ABV, this limited release retains remarkable freshness while allowing the spirit's rich complexity to shine. Every sip reveals layers developed over 28 years in oak, resulting in a whisky that balances vibrant fruit, warming spice, honeyed sweetness and subtle coastal salinity.
For those seeking an older Isle of Mull single malt, few whiskies demonstrate the elegance and maturity of this outstanding Chapter 7 bottling.
About Tobermory Distillery
Founded in 1798, Tobermory Distillery is one of Scotland's oldest licensed distilleries and the only whisky distillery located on the picturesque Isle of Mull.
Nestled on the colourful harbour of Tobermory, the distillery produces two distinctive styles of whisky. Under the Tobermory name, it creates an unpeated spirit renowned for its fruity, waxy and maritime character, while its peated spirit is released under the Ledaig label.
The island's coastal climate, traditional production methods and long fermentation contribute to a wonderfully complex spirit capable of ageing gracefully for decades. Mature Tobermory expressions have become increasingly scarce, making older vintages such as this 1994 release especially desirable among whisky collectors.
Chapter 7 Whisky
Founded in Switzerland, Chapter 7 Whisky has earned an excellent reputation for selecting exceptional single casks from some of Scotland's finest distilleries.
Rather than focusing on volume, Chapter 7 seeks out distinctive whiskies that express individuality, authenticity and character. Their bottlings are often released in extremely limited numbers, frequently at natural colour and without chill filtration, preserving the whisky exactly as intended by the cask.
This Tobermory 28-Year-Old is an excellent example of Chapter 7's philosophy of showcasing remarkable mature Scotch whisky.
Maturation & Character
After spending 28 years maturing in oak, this Tobermory has developed extraordinary depth while maintaining remarkable vibrancy.
Extended maturation has softened the spirit beautifully, allowing notes of ripe orchard fruit, citrus oils, vanilla, beeswax and gentle spice to integrate with Tobermory's distinctive coastal minerality.
Bottled at 52% ABV, the whisky offers impressive concentration without overwhelming the palate, delivering exceptional balance between richness and freshness.
Collectability & Investment
Older Tobermory releases have become increasingly difficult to source as demand for mature island single malts continues to grow worldwide.
Independent bottlings from respected companies such as Chapter 7 are particularly attractive to collectors due to their limited production, unique cask selection and individuality. Combined with the age statement and increasingly limited availability of mature Tobermory stock, this 1994 vintage represents both an exceptional drinking experience and a highly desirable addition to any serious whisky collection.
