About Braeval Distillery

The Braeval distillery was founded in 1973 by a consortium of investors, under the name Braes of Glenlivet, though it has always been known simply as Braeval. The distillery was built at a time when the Scotch whisky industry was expanding, and it was designed to be a high-capacity operation with modern equipment to meet the rising demand for blended whisky.
Situated near the village of Ballindalloch, in the heart of Speyside, Braeval sits on the banks of the River Spey—a region known for its pristine water sources and ideal climate for whisky maturation. The distillery is surrounded by picturesque hills and heather, typical of Speyside’s rolling landscape.
The distillery has had several owners throughout its history.
It was initially owned by The Braes of Glenlivet Distillery Company but was later acquired by Chivas Brothers (part of the Pernod Ricard group).
In the early 2000s, the distillery underwent a rebranding and was re-commissioned under the name Braeval. Despite this, it has remained a relatively quiet producer, focusing primarily on supplying malt whisky for blends.
